THE GRIZZ ?
Autumn “THE GRIZZ” Griswold is a storyteller from The Corridor of Shame, South Carolina. But she didn’t always know she was a storyteller.
Growing up in a close-minded, limiting town, where the education wasn’t developed, she was always dispassionate about her studies. Although she had an encouraging mother, she didn’t know what these dreams were. Her late father was an artist. But she didn’t know how the arts would benefit her long-term, so she shelved that passion. That was until she discovered reading.
She sped through picture books, then moved on to thick chapter books. And then, discovered comics and manga. She got lost in worlds different from hers where women’s and queer people’s voices were highlighted. These stories were personal for people around her and for her; she not only wanted to tell them, but she needed to.
She delved into writing and, through it, found visual arts and fell in love with illustration. But she wasn’t convinced about how these paths would help her achieve what she wanted. That was until she toured the Savannah College of Art & Design. On that bus, she discovered she wasn’t a writer or an artist. She was a storyteller.
She went on to study at SCAD, double majoring in Illustration and Fashion Marketing & Management with a concentration in creative direction. Her goal is to tell stories that feel personal to people like her. Stories that uplift voices like hers and her single mother’s and capture the ever-changing queer and feminine experience in the 21st century.

With projects spanning illustration, design, writing, marketing, and creative direction, THE GRIZZ’s deliverables are both high-quality and high-concept.
Her experiences with nonprofits and startups have fulfilled her creatively and emotionally, and her passion for storytelling has led her to lead productions that combine many disciplines and personalities.
